This year marks the 8th annual Summer Sizzle in Lineville orchestrated by the Clay County Arts League. There is music in the air every Thursday night in July at Lineville Park, and this year promises to draw out more spectators and more fun.

Event organizer Barbara Pollard is more excited this year than she has been in the past. Last year’s success had crowds reaching well over the 500 mark each night. “Our event is well attended by local people and many county wide areas,” stated Pollard.

Heritage Hall Jazz Band Leader Jeff Wood plays his trumpet to  patriotic music.

She mentioned that after last years event they received a commendation from then Governor Bob Riley congratulating the Arts League on their continued success  and how well Summer Sizzle has been received in the community.

This years lineup is an exciting one. On July 7th Roger Hammett, Ryan Robertson  & Friends will kick off this summer on Patriotic Night with patriotic music and firework show.  July 14th will be The Heritage hall Jazz Band from Talladega. Bringing you Jazz, Blues, Swing, and other sounds. July 21st is Country Bluegrass Night with the sounds of Kevin Moon. July 28th is “Clay County Gospel Hour” with various local gospel groups performing. All events begin at 7 pm. Arrive early and bring your lawn chairs or blankets.

Free admission for all ages and concessions will be available.
